The Kewtech SMARTPAT PAT Tester is a battery-powered PAT tester that is nevertheless capable of performing load and run testing for 110V and 230V appliances. An RCD test function is also available. These advanced test functions sit alongside a 200mA continuity test, insulation resistance test, substitute leakage test and polarity check for extension leads.

Load and run testing constitutes an important testing function as it enables the testing of earth leakage current and total current drawn in handheld appliances that can pose a greater risk. The Kewtech SMARTPATs no-trip RCD testing function, meanwhile, helps test tripping in 10mA and 30mA devices. Further versatility is added by a 5s duration continuity test and a lower 250V insulation resistance test voltage for assessing surge-protected extension leads. A test lead nulling function aids accuracy by adjusting for resistance in test leads.

Class I and Class II appliances and extension leads can be tested using the Kewtech SMARTPATs one-button automatic test sequences. Test sequences can be customised using the KEWPAT App, soon to be available for free on Android, which can also exercise remote control over the PAT tester. Results and a PASS/FAIL indication are shown on the LCD screen which flashes red to indicate failure and green to indicate a pass.

The Kewtech SMARTPAT comes supplied with an extension lead adaptor, earth bond test lead, crocodile clip, carry case and mains lead. The battery will power roughly 1400 test sequences and the PAT testers compact size makes it easy to store and transport.
